Missions

Adult Spanish Sunday School class begins September 2 at the East Campus.  The teacher will be Arthur Carlisle.  The class will meet in the Youth Director’s office.

 

We will hold a Spanish Fellowship at the East Campus on Saturday, September 15, 6-8 pm. 

 

ESL classes are meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays upstairs at East Campus.  Volunteers are always welcome.

 

Thank you to everyone who helped with FIESTA, our Spanish VBS.  It was a tremendous success to everyone who attended.

 

MISSION TRIPS:

Please be in prayer for the team traveling to Red Bird Mission on September 9.  Members are:  Jane Sikora, Ray VanValkenburg, Leigh Brown

 

Please be in prayer for the team traveling to Nicaragua on September 21.  Members from SPUMCS include Cliff Burris, Arthur Carlisle, Kim Stewart, and Calvin Taylor.

 

Upcoming trips to pray about:  Ecuador (youth), Costa Rica, and Uruguay.

 

Thank you for your contributions to the food pantry ministry.  We are still needing individuals to take donations to the pantries and volunteer a few hours each month serving at the Samaritan Ministries pantry on Halstead Rd.

 

FAITH PROMISE REPORT:  Thank you for your continued faithful giving.  Because we are right on target with receipts after one quarter of giving, we have been able to increase our giving to many of our current partners by almost double, and we are in conversation with several other missionaries and agencies to bring them in as partners as well.  We covet your prayers as we make these decisions.

 

Goal:  $106,000

Received to date:  $34,000

We give thanks for the mission trip that Barbara and Christine Lemon took to Costa Rica.

Work team to Red Bird in Kentucky

We are taking a work team to Red Bird Mission in Kentucky the week of September 10. The cost for the trip is about $350 per person, and individuals should be moderately skilled in construction.  For more information or to sign up for the trip, please contact Jane Sikora at 826-5011 or wjrsikora@aol.com.
